North Carolina Tar Heels

North Carolina is in the midst of a recruiting boom. Head coach Roy Williams has always been regarded as a great leader and the Tar Heels’ tremendous level of success with him at the helm reflects that. Over the past couple of seasons, though, he has really started to show even more of his prowess as a recruiter by landing some of the best talents in the nation.

Looking ahead to the 2021 recruiting class, it is reasonable to think that North Carolina will once again be in the market for a starting point guard, something that is seemingly becoming a trend. Incoming 2020 commits Caleb Love and R.J. Davis are both regarded as lead guards but are arriving in Chapel Hill with high expectations.

If they put together strong freshmen years, both could be heading to the NBA and that would make UNC a very legitimate destination spot for Chandler.

With this said, though, it feels as though North Carolina is a longshot to land Chandler. The Tar Heels seem to have ground to make up in this recruitment and I’m not sure they will be able to overcome the other programs on this list. Head coach Roy Williams has already reached out to other backcourt targets and could be prioritizing the likes of Hunter Sallis instead, at this point.

It would be a mistake to count North Carolina out in any recruiting battle, but it might be difficult to secure this commitment.
