2021 top-50 small forward Benny Williams narrowed his final four NCAA Basketball destinations for a commitment.

Benny Williams announced his final four schools Thursday and all of them look to add him as their first recruit of the 2021 NCAA Basketball class.

Williams chose Miami, Maryland, Syracuse, and Georgetown for his shortlist. The four-star small forward from the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School of Maryland earned a Washington Post First Team All-Met honor in leading the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Lions to a Mid-Atlantic Conference regular-season title. The Lions finished the 2019-20 season with a 24-4 (10-2 MAC) record and ranked as the fifth-best team in the Washington Post’s All-Met rankings behind DeMatha, Paul VI, and Gonzaga College High School.

He is ranked as the 10th best small forward and best player in Maryland. The 6-foot-8, 180 pound, recruit can shoot the three-point shot, he protects the rim well and he can run the fast break and score. Teams in this day and age need a versatile wing player who can score inside and out, run the fast break to get his teammates involved, or score himself and hold his own defensively. He just finished his junior season with one more left to go. He will likely be the senior leader for St. Andrew’s in their pursuit of another conference title.

As a local recruit, Georgetown and Maryland would certainly like to have a player with his skill set. They are two teams in need of a major recruiting boost this season and next. Miami and Syracuse are good landing spots for Williams in the ACC given the pedigree of their coaches in Jim Larranaga and Jim Boeheim.

Benny Williams has no timetable set for a decision with COVID-19 bringing sports to a halt altogether, it may not come for a while. In any case, he will give any one of these teams a boost in the 2021-22 season. Check out my breakdown of how he would fit on each of these programs.
