Michigan basketball’s 2020 class might not be as highly-regarded as it once was, but this group is still filled with talents ready to be difference-makers.

Juwan Howard’s first season at the helm of Michigan basketball should be regarded as a success. The Wolverines finished the campaign with a solid 19-12 (10-10 B1G) record while playing a rigorous schedule and they were widely projected to secure an NCAA Tournament bid as a No. 6-7 seed prior to its cancelation. It was a strong overall year considering Michigan was entering the campaign having lost its three leading scorers from the previous season.

Michigan’s offseason, though, has been tumultuous, to say the least. The Wolverines have already lost a few underclassmen to transfer and also suffered some disappointment on the recruiting trail. Arguably the most newsworthy development was the decision of five-star prospect Joshua Christopher committing to Arizona State after he had been long-rumored to be a Michigan lean. That news was then followed by the announcement of five-star commit Isaiah Todd choosing to play in the G League rather than spend this coming season in Ann Arbor.

Missing out of those two top-tier prospects was certainly a tough blow for Coach Howard but the cupboard is far from bare. The Wolverines still appear poised to return their fair share of talent for this coming season while also managing to bring in a recruiting class ranked at No. 12 in the nation. That’s right – Michigan’s incoming freshmen class is still loaded with talent even after the decisions of Christopher and Todd.

This quartet of commits features three ranked in the Top 100 of the nation and the group should be quite impactful with the program. Looking ahead to this coming season and the campaigns that follow, how might these newcomers make their mark in Ann Arbor. Let’s dive a bit deeper into each to find out.
