One of the biggest surprises of this past season, Baylor Basketball spent time at the top of all of college hoops. Here’s an overall look at the Bears’ 2019-20 campaign.

Now that we’re a few weeks removed from what would’ve been the end of March Madness in Atlanta, I can finally sit down and write about the best season in Baylor Basketball history. I’m not going to lie, I needed this time to compile my thoughts and let it soak in that this season is… well, over. In a sense, I was in denial, but never-the-less we’ll move forward by taking a look backward.

Baylor started the year ranked outside the Top 15 in the AP Poll and 3rd in the Big 12 preseason poll. But after a 24-1 record-breaking start to the season, the Baylor Bears found themselves sitting at the very top of the AP Poll for the most consecutive weeks (5) since the 2015 Kentucky team! In just 16 weeks the Bears resume also boasted a 13-0 start in Big 12 play, a program first-ever win at Allen Fieldhouse and six AP Top 25 ranked wins vs Villanova, Arizona, Butler, Texas Tech, Kansas and West Virginia.

The Bears eventually fell to the Kansas Jayhawks in an AP Top 3 match-up during ESPN’s College GameDay, which produced one of the best games of the year. They would finish the regular season 26-4, likely claiming a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. So at this point, I think it’s safe to say the Bears were poised for a deep run in March.
