2. Butler (72) at Xavier (71) – Mar. 7th

They might not have known it at the time, but Butler’s road matchup with Xavier would be the team’s last game of the entire season due to the cancelation of the Big East and NCAA Tournaments. And while it is a shame that this group was not able to have a chance at a deep run in the Big Dance, this was a pretty darn good way for the team to go out.

Playing on the road, against the rivals, and coming away with a nail-biting victory behind arguably a senior’s best-ever performance – pretty sensational.

That senior, of course, was Kamar Baldwin. Not only did he drop in 36 points to lead the team in scoring. Not only did he go on a personal 5-0 run with a minute left in the game to push the Dawgs in front. But while trailing by two in the final seconds, he also pulled up for an ice-cold dagger of a 3-pointer to win the game – and buried it.

Honestly, Baldwin had a tremendous career and it would be hard to draw up a more storybook ending to his final regular-season game.

Amidst the entire frontcourt either dealing with injuries (McDermott) or foul trouble (Nze, Golden), Baldwin stepped up with one of his career-best performances and signed out with some “ONIONS.” His all-around stat-line of 36 points, six rebounds, and three assists on 13-for-25 shooting was an impressive one, and only his backcourt mate Aaron Thompson joined him double-figures (10 points, five steals).
