California Bears

One of the worst scoring teams this past season (332nd overall with 63.2 ppg), Cal loses two of their top scorers (Paris Austin and Kareem South), who was their starting backcourt. Leading scorer Matt Bradley (17.5 ppg) is coming back but could use a lot more support. Penn grad transfer Ryan Betley is coming aboard, while Fresno State guard Jarred Hyder will likely have to sit out next season.

Coleman-Lands would have a big role with the Bears in his final season and definitely be a starter. He’d be a nice one-year rental addition for Coach Mark Fox as the program continues their rebuild but the grad transfer would likely not make the NCAA Tournament.

Iowa State Cyclones

Few teams have been after as many transfers this offseason as Iowa State has. But with the exception of Memphis sit-out transfer Tyler Harris, they’ve missed out on plenty of targets. And with Tyrese Haliburton and Prentiss Nixon gone (along with Harris ineligible for 2020-21), the Cyclones need to add at least two grad transfer guards to truly feel that they can compete in the Big 12 next season.

Leading scorer Rasir Bolton will be back and paring him with Coleman-Lands would be a good scoring and defending backcourt. The problem is that neither are true facilitators, so Iowa State would need to find one more, or hope incoming freshman guard Jaden Walker has a big freshman year.

NC State Wolfpack

The departures of both Markell Johnson and CJ Bryce creates a need for the Wolfpack, particularly after incoming top-50 freshman wing Josh Hall elected to go pro instead of going to college. Seniors Braxton Beverly and Devon Daniels will get the bulk of the perimeter minutes, along with incoming four-star freshmen ball-handlers Cam Hayes and Shakeel Moore.

NC State could still use another guard capable of playing off the ball, who can simply play a solid 15-20 minutes each game to provide needed depth. This is a scenario that won’t force the DePaul guard to play outside of his ability, while the Wolfpack can somewhat lessen the blow of losing Hall.
