Andrew Garcia is one of three players leaving Stony Brook to the transfer portal. Which NCAA Basketball programs should be targeting the grad guard?

There were three players from Stony Brook this past week who elected to enter the NCAA Basketball transfer portal. There’s leading scorer Elijah Olaniyi, sharpshooter and program record-holder for most three-pointers in a season Makale Foreman. Andrew Garcia flies a bit under the radar compared to the other two but he may be the most sought-after transfer of the trio.

The 6’5 guard has progressed each season after redshirting his first year of college. He went from 2.9 ppg to 9.4 as a sophomore and America East 6th Man of the Year, before going for 13.4 ppg and 6.7 rpg this past season to get All-Conference honors. Not only did he contribute on the offensive end, but Garcia was also a solid defender at either the wing or undersized forward position. That kind of versatility is important if he wants to play at the higher levels of college hoops.

Garcia has the size to play the small forward position but he’ll have to improve on his three-point shooting. He made 25 total this past season on a 32% clip and is more comfortable driving and slashing. But as an experienced grad transfer wing who can play defense, expect there to be some notable suitors to be involved.

So which teams would fit the best for Garcia? Here are 10 programs to potentially keep an eye on in this process in the coming days and weeks in his new recruitment.
