Tennessee Volunteers

Family connections have the Vols linked to McClung, who is replacing outgoing lead guards Lamonte Turner and Jordan Bowden with a pair of five-star freshmen in Keon Johnson and Jaden Springer. Of course, if a coach can, they’ll want to have some kind of experience on the perimeter as he has enjoyed in the past couple of years.

McClung is a proven power conference player and would do well in the Vols guard-friendly system. He wants to be a top ball-handler and in case the freshmen struggle could be a great option for Tennessee to have. That being said, it’s hard to envision a player opting to compete with five-star talents for minutes coming in as a transfer.

USC Trojans

Already having top-3 overall big man Evan Mobley on the roster, the Trojans have gone crazy in the transfer portal, adding five transfers this offseason. The latest in Drew Peterson, a 6’8 guard sit-out transfer from Rice. Joining him is Tahj Eaddy from Santa Clara, Isaiah White from Utah Valley and frontcourt pieces Chevez Goodwin (Wofford) and Joshua Morgan (Long Beach State).

The Trojans have a point guard in Ethan Anderson that is much more of a facilitator than a pure scorer. And with Elijah Weaver having transferred out, McClung can slide in to the shooting guard spot and provide the needed scoring balance in the backcourt. He’ll have to play off the ball much more than he would want to though, rather than share the duties.
