With the likely departure of All-Big Ten guard Ayo Dosunmu, Adam Miller has some big shoes to fill that are left behind by his former high school teammate.

The name Adam Miller has been quite a popular one among Illinois basketball fans for a while now. Whether that is because of his unique basketball talent, or his relationship with fan favorite Ayo Dosunmu, Miller has Illini fans a little less on edge as they wait for a decision about the return or bump up to the NBA of Dosunmu.

Miller, a back-to-back Illinois Gatorade player of the year and state champion at Morgan Park high school in Chicago, is now tasked with most likely filling the shoes of his former high school teammate. The 6’2 guard brings a lot to the table that Illinois fans haven’t seen for a long time.

His combination of athleticism, smooth shot, and the ability to score from anywhere, is a major reason why some think he could be better than Dosunmu.

Following a relatively quiet recruiting process, Miller ultimately chose his home state school Illinois over the likes of Kansas, Arizona and Louisville. The top-30 recruit worried some by not signing during the early singing period at the end of 2019, but Miller put all the worry to rest when he signed his NLI to Illinois in late April.

Now that he is signed, Adam Miller is looking to be the go to guy for the Illini from the beginning and I’m sure that most orange and blue fans are fine with that. “AceWolf”, as some call him, brings a killer’s mentality to Champaign to pair alongside Top-50 guard Andre Curbelo and California big man Coleman Hawkins.

With Miller being the prize of this class in most eyes, he will also have the most pressure to produce in the clutch. If his high school days are any indication though, it’s safe to say the pressure won’t get to him.

What makes Adam Miller such a great player though?

The sheer athleticism of Miller is the one things that stands out most. If you don’t see it right away, just look at this poster against Tinley Park.

Combine this with a lethal three-point shot and ability to score anywhere on the court, and you have the makings of a future NBA player. If Miller can bring this, while improving his game, to Champaign, then the Big Ten better watch out.

Even though the shoes to fill are large, I have no doubt in my mind that AceWolf will have no issue cementing his place in Illinois fans hearts. Only time will tell just how far Miller will take the Illini.
