Both Gach is the latest addition to the NCAA Basketball transfer portal. Which teams should be in play to land the former Ute wing?

It seems as if each offseason, the Utah Utes keep losing a key player to the NCAA Basketball transfer portal. They’ve struggled to keep their core group together and will have to replace another starter this time around in Both Gach. He originally had entered his name in the NBA Draft and is still there but has officially made the decision to leave the program, whether it’s to the pros or another college team.

It wasn’t looking like Gach would be a power conference player, having few others heading into late junior season of high school. But a big late run by the guard improved his recruiting prospects, with programs such as San Diego State and Texas Tech showing interest. In the end, it was the Utes from the Pac-12 who landed Gach’s signature.

He became an instant impact player for Utah as a freshman, averaging 7.7 ppg. Gach had an even better past season as a sophomore, going for 10.7 ppg 3.6 rpg and 2.9 apg. He was the team’s second-leading scorer and played primarily at the shooting guard position, shooting 40% from the field overall but just 25% from three-point range. The 6’6 athlete posted a triple-double against Mississippi Valley State at the beginning of the season, while scoring a career-high 28 points at the end versus Colorado.

While Gach is an impressive overall athlete with plenty of potential to tap into, he needs to improve on both his shooting and consistency from game-to-game. Assuming he does return from the NBA Draft process, the former Ute will likely have to sit out next season with two years left of eligibility. There will be some programs going after the Minnesota native, here are some who should make a run at Gach.
