NCAA Basketball: 20 teams who should target St. John’s transfer LJ Figueroa
Houston Cougars
The recent departure of Nate Hinton to the NBA Draft leaves the Cougars looking for someone who can score double figures, while also being able to rebound at a high level. Figueroa averaged more points this past season than anyone on the roster for Houston and even though they play a high-level of “small ball”, will need to find either a forward or bigger wing to maintain that style of play.
The Cougars are still looking like the preseason AAC favorites, bringing back both Caleb Mills and Quentin Grimes, along with Idaho transfer Cameron Tyson. It would be a solid fit that could provide the St. John’s transfer a prime role on an NCAA Tournament caliber team.
Indiana Hoosiers
With starting wing Justin Smith recently entering the transfer portal, Indiana could use someone to replace him that would be a much better fit. Figueroa has made more total three-pointers in two years (123) than Smith has in three years with Hoosiers (20). He’d also be a good defender and be a senior presence for a team featuring two underclassmen stars.
With five-star guard Kristian Lander joining the team and returning leading scoring forward Trayce Jackson-Davis coming back for one year, Indiana needs to go all-in and make a run back up the Big Ten ladder. They’re in good shape with Aljami Durham and four-star forward Jordan Geronimo if they don’t land anyone but why not make a run for Figueroa if they can?
