Maryland Terrapins

It’s been a tough offseason overall for the Terrapins, losing a number of transfers along with star players Anthony Cowan and Jalen Smith. They did land Alabama grad transfer big man Galin Smith and Boston College combo wing Jairus Hamilton but only has nine guaranteed rotation players for next season.

It’s hard to recruit depth with there already being three upperclassmen starters accounted for. But Maryland could use a wing with an ability to rebound, making Figueroa a potential target. They’re also after Utah wing Both Gach, among other sit-out targets to fill up the roster. The Terps are going to have to land a few players just to field enough players to be competitive.

Memphis Tigers

As far as “guaranteed” rotation players for next season goes, Memphis is lacking a premier go-to scorer as they did with AAC Player of the Year Precious Achiuwa. They have solid role-playing pieces such as Leston Quinones, Boogie Ellis and DJ Jeffries who could have individual breakout campaigns.

The Tigers do have a pair of transfers who committed this offseason who are primetime scorers in Deandre Williams from Evansville and Landers Nolley from Virginia. Both are slated to sit-out next year but could get waivers. They’re also a current finalist for Georgetown transfer Mac McClung. It’s weird to involve Figueroa in this since he’s in the same unknown situation as far as eligibility goes but with a scholarship left to use, why not add another transfer to improve their odds?
