Maryland Terrapins

If you exclude the teams who lost their head coach this offseason, no program has lost as many players in the transfer portal as the Terrapins, who lost their entire bench. So far, they added Alabama grad transfer center Galin Smith and Boston College combo forward Jairus Hamilton, who barring a waiver, will have to sit out for the upcoming season.

With Donta Scott still around, Maryland does have a starting forward to work with for next year. But besides adding needed frontcourt depth for 2020-21, Mutts would be a junior, which would help the scholarship scenario for the program. That way, head coach Mark Turgeon doesn’t have to bring in an eight-man freshmen class to balance things out.

New Mexico Lobos

Head coach Paul Weir has a completely new roster for next season, which is probably a good thing considering the off-the-court turmoil involving the supposed “veterans” of the team. Zane Martin, Keith Magee and Makuach Maluach are the lone returning rotation players, joined by a number of incoming freshmen and a pair of transfers who committed this offseason.

Jeremiah Francis (UNC), Assane Ndiaye (JUCO) and Saquan Singleton (JUCO) will have a big impact as veteran imports but using more depth such as Mutts would be an improvement to the Lobos frontcourt situation. He may not have the same level of talent as the previous New Mexico transfers but could be much better chemistry and fit for the program overall.
