NCAA Basketball: Breakdown of 4-Star PG Daeshun Ruffin’s final 6 teams
By Ian Mumm
NCAA Basketball contender for Daeshun Ruffin – Ole Miss Rebels
It’s been a difficult transition for the Rebels to start the Kermit Davis era. The team hasn’t been able to rely on a deep rotation, vastly limiting their margin for error. While graduate transfers Romello White (Arizona St) and Dimencio Vaughn (Rider) improves the Rebels outlook this season, there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the projected 2021 roster. The program has had recent difficulties reeling in multiple top recruits in a single class to stock the cupboards.
Despite these issues, Ruffin made it to campus for an official visit and is a strong fit. He can be the unquestioned face of the program especially if incoming freshman Matthew Murrell has a big enough breakout to go one-and-done. The Rebels haven’t shot a ton of 3-pointers or created a ton of turnovers under Kermit Davis, but those are areas that will be improved by Ruffin’s presence.
Ole Miss needs a true triple-threat guard on their roster and Ruffin just may be the perfect guy for the job. Although he is known for his proficiencies shooting the ball, he is capable of getting into the teeth of the defense and elevating the play of his teammates.
There is tons of opportunity with the home state Rebels to develop all aspects of his game from the moment he steps on campus.
