Transfer guard Andrew Nembhard has a number of suitors right now. Could Gonzaga Basketball be the best fit among the bunch?

Few programs are as prolific with transfers as Gonzaga Basketball, who has a great history of benefitting with other team’s players. They have been linked with many so far this offseason, even landing Southern Illinois grad transfer guard Aaron Cook. Now, they’re hoping to land another in Andrew Nembhard.

The Bulldogs coaching staff are well familiar with Nembhard. They were a finalist for the five-star guard back in the 2018 recruiting class, with him ultimately choosing the Florida Gators. He had a very good two years with the program, starting all 67 games and averaging double figures in scoring and averaging 5.5 apg, good for nearly the best in the SEC. As a strong defender and facilitator, Nembhard was a key clog on the Gators roster but now he’s looking for a new program.

The fit with Coach White’s system never completely clicked and there are a number of programs that are looking to land Nembhard. There isn’t a clear list of contenders for the Florida transfer but reportedly, some programs are looking as “favorites” to land him. As mentioned, one of them is Gonzaga, as well as Duke, Oregon and UCLA among others. There also is the question as to whether or not he’ll have to sit out next season or could somehow get a waiver from the NCAA.

Of all of the potential realistic options for Nembhard, I want to make the case for him to end up in Spokane. The following are a list of reasons why the Bulldogs are the No. 1 choice for the now-former Gator.
