NCAA Basketball: Updated early top-25 power rankings for 2020-21 season
NCAA Basketball power rankings – Wisconsin Badgers
While I’ve been talking about the potential of the incoming five-star freshmen, there are also teams who return the vast majority of production from a year ago. Wisconsin is one of them, coming off tying for 1st place in the Big Ten, who had one of the better years overall from a conference perspective.
The only rotation player that the Badgers lose this offseason is Brevin Pritzl. But they bring back basically everyone else. including leading scorer Nate Reuvers. He, Micah Potter, Aleem Ford and four-star freshman forward Ben Carlson form one of the best frontcourts in the Big Ten. The guards are pretty good as well, led by Brad Davison and D’Mitrik Trice. Losing Kobe King midway in the season seemed to have helped them in terms of chemistry overall but the perimeter depth after those two is a question.
Three-star guards Lorne Bowman and Johnny Davis will have big roles as freshmen while rising senior Trevor Anderson will also have a bigger role in the rotation. Once again, the defense will be this team’s calling card, while the offensive balance throughout the lineup should be enough to win a bunch of games. It may not be pretty but it’ll be good enough to be a mainstay in the top-25 rankings.
