Fringe 5-star combo guard Jalen Warley has narrowed his list of NCAA Basketball schools to 10. Which of them are the best situations for him?

Jalen Warley, the 27th overall prospect in the 2021 class updated his recruitment timeline Sunday announcing his top-10 NCAA Basketball programs. The Westtown (PA) combo guard has not set a definitive timetable for selecting a school, as a direct result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking with Sam Webb of 247sports.com, Warley said “the first opportunity I get I want to get on a couple college campuses…then give myself probably a week or two after that to kind of debrief and talk about it with my family, and try to make a decision as soon as possible after that.” He also noted that the coaching staff, offensive fit, and academics are his top priorities in choosing a school.

Warley stands at 6’5” and utilizes his physicality in many areas of his game that will help translate to success at the college level. His 6’9” wingspan and on-court IQ make him a menace on the defensive end. He’s great at anticipating, reading plays and positioning himself on the floor to make a steal or quickly jump from shooter to shooter.

His speed and quickness aren’t going to jump off the tape, but his length and hesitation moves give him an advantage to making plays in the lane. As a player that likes to get downhill, Warley is a frequent flyer at the free throw line and is a strong shooter from the charity stripe. Already with a smooth stroke, he is not one to force up shots to increase his opportunities. He is a meticulous player and knows how to move defenses around to get shots off for himself or his teammates.

As a result of his patience, Warley is likely to thrive and feel the most comfortable in a system a strong defensive philosophy and a more traditional offensive approach for him to create. Caring a certain maturity and approach to his game, Warley is primed to contribute immediately to whichever program he signs with.

Of the programs left on Warley’s list, there are several that stand out to compliment his talents and achieving his goals of reaching the NBA. Which are most likely to make the next cut?
