Who are the most accomplished head coaches in OVC Basketball this century?

It can be difficult to remember all of the mid-major conferences in the country, but there are two reasons why OVC Basketball stands out. While each of the twelve teams in the conference has had success in their history, the budding rivalry between Belmont and Murray State is certainly the focus of the league. Since the Bruins joined the league, the two seem to be competing head-to-head for conference titles on a regular basis.

But these two teams are not alone in the league, and the conference has been full of some great mid-major coaches over the years. Belmont and Murray State’s coaches get the most attention, but we forget about some of the other names that have risen out of this league. While those programs have much of the conference’s success, there’s plenty of intrigue in other programs, as these coaches scrap together competitive rosters, typically without elite talent.

With this in mind, we’ll be taking a close look at the ten greatest head coaches of the OVC since 2000. We’ll be basing our ranking off a number of factors, particularly noticing how a coach fared at a program compared to his predecessors. Obviously, winning and building postseason success are also very important factors. We’ll take a look at a number of different coaches, not just those from the two big schools, and look deeply at what they’ve done for these programs.

Without further ado, let’s get the ranking started, diving into these coaches’ history and accomplishments in the OVC.
