Sophomore forward Reggie Chaney has become the latest NCAA Basketball transfer. Which teams should make a run at targeting the player?

Few teams have seen as much action in the NCAA Basketball transfer portal as the Arkansas Razorbacks, led by head coach Eric Musselman and his extensive recent history with adding new players each offseason. But when new players arrive, some decide to leave. And that’s the case with Reggie Chaney.

Part of an eight-man class of 2018 recruiting class, Chaney was a three-star prospect ranked in the top-200 overall. He was a key bench piece, producing 5.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, and 1.4 bpg in 16 minutes a game as a freshman. The 6’8 forward was set for a bigger role as a sophomore but was suspended for the start of this past season due to rule violations.

He played the rest of the year, mostly off the bench while putting up similar numbers. He performed when given more playing time, including 17 points and 11 rebounds against Missouri. Chaney’s playing time dwindled towards the end of this past season, and with incoming grad transfers, Justin Smith and Vance Jackson joining the team, the forward’s role likely wasn’t going to expand.

With news now out that Chaney is leaving the Razorbacks, look for a number of programs still looking for frontcourt pieces to be in the running. He has proven that he can play in the SEC and at worst can be an effective rotational piece.

But which NCAA Basketball teams should the Tulsa, Oklahoma athlete consider? Here are eight to keep an eye on.

*Barring a waiver, look for Chaney to sit out for the 2020-21 season.
