By Joey Loose
Who are the most accomplished head coaches in Big Sky Basketball this century?
There is no disrespect meant when saying this, but the Big Sky is probably one of those leagues that many college basketball fans disregard. Many of these programs lack significant basketball history and most of the schools play in dormant locations on the west coast of the country. Even while Montana has attracted much of the attention historically, there’s plenty to like about this league and the teams of Big Sky Basketball.
Throughout these years, the league has touted some fantastic coaches. These men bring talent to these schools and coach them into postseason success, something that’s certainly not an easy task in the Big Sky. You won’t find any Hall of Famers among the current group of head coaches, but certainly a group of intriguing young coaches, many with bright futures ahead.
We’ll be taking a closer look at the ten greatest head coaches of the Big Sky since 2000. The league has been pretty steady for these last few decades, but there are still a great number of coaches to be considered. We’ll take a look at their success with the school, how many games they won, and how they changed the trajectory of the program during their tenures. A few excellent coaches really stood out, but there’s plenty of intrigue with all ten names.
Without further ado, let’s get into the ranking of these coaches, going over their accomplishments since the turn of the century for these Big Sky teams.
