Famous Netflix show “Last Chance U”  is reportedly transitioning to basketball. Which JUCO programs would be potential great fits?

Everyone has seen the show or at least heard of it. “Last Chance U” is a show exclusively on Netflix that looks at different JUCO’s around the country and profiles the team, coach, and players. The show usually finds a JUCO that is in a small town and has an eclectic group of players who are trying to earn scholarships to a division one school. The previous seasons have all had a coach who is extremely over the top and have all focused on the football program.

The latest season to air was the second season at Independence Community College in a small Kansas town. The head coach Jason Brown was one of the reasons that viewers coming back. Brown was the type of coach that you fear your kids playing for. He was tough and often made many things about himself directly as opposed to the team. The final season saw a talented team quit on their coach and it ended with Coach Brown getting fired after exhibiting some hate speech towards the German kicker.

Season five of the show is the last season to focus on football and for the first time, the directors are going to add a basketball version of Last Chance U. The final football season is set to air in July on Netflix. The series announced that starting in 2021 Last Chance U will have a series completely devoted to Basketball teams in the JUCO ranks. The first season is already filmed with East Los Angeles College and the official air date has not been released yet, but it is known it will be sometime in 2021. Since the show is going strictly basketball base which other schools besides East Los Angeles should be featured on the show?

The criteria for selecting a team should be noted. The directors are going to look for good TV. While many of us would like to see the good teams and the best players, that does not always make for great TV. If you look at the criteria that the show has selected in the past it is usually a JUCO that has a polarizing coach, and a bunch of players who are looking for their chance at Division I basketball.

The show is going to find teams who are exciting both on and off the floor. The following teams would all be great TV and would be a welcome addition to the Last Chance U series.
