What are the most important storylines for Kansas Basketball heading into the 2020-21 season?

Even towards the end of June, Kansas Basketball fans have to still be upset about not finishing this past season. They were ranked No. 1 in the country at the time before the start of the Big 12 Tournament and had a pair of All-American stars in Devon Dotson and Udoka Azubuike. The Jayhawks, who had one of the best defenses in all of college basketball, were a clear favorite to win it all.

They’ll have to make another attempt at a Final Four run next season, without not only Dotson and Azubuike but also sharpshooting wing Isaiah Moss. Kansas doesn’t return a player who averaged over 10 ppg but still has several key pieces that’ll have major roles in 2020-21. That includes stars Marcus Garrett and Ochai Agbaji, along with big man David McCormack.

Once again, Kansas is a preseason favorite for not only the Big 12 but also nationally for the upcoming campaign. But this program is facing a ton of questions and potential dark clouds in the next few months. Rival Baylor could be returning everyone, while head coach Bill Self is facing major trouble with the NCAA. A year from now, this program may look entirely different, as well as their overall prospects as a national power.

Between the off the court drama, and current roster situation, Kansas has plenty to deal with, even before opening tip-off. Here are three specific topics to go over regarding the Jayhawks that’ll have the biggest impact going forward.
