Who are the most accomplished head coaches in Summit League Basketball this century?

Change is constant on the basketball landscape, especially in a conference like Summit League Basketball. Until 2007, the league had been known as the Mid-Continent Conference, though name is not the only thing that’s changed since the turn of the century. The league has seen many changes from conference realignment over the years and looks completely different than a few decades earlier. In addition, the teams that dominate the conference have also changed regularly.

The change that has regularly resulted in these programs is a result of the coaches who have put them in this position. While there have been a few legends of the game that have made their mark in the Summit League, a majority of these men never get the recognition they deserve. Many of the current programs in this conference are still in their relative infancy as Division 1 programs and these coaches have been incredible in adjusting them to the highest stage of college basketball.

We’re going to be taking a closer look at the ten greatest head coaches of the Summit League since 2000. With many changes in the conference, we have plenty of names to consider, though there are several that floated instantly to attention. We’ll weigh things like wins and postseason success, while also considered how these coaches built their programs, many of them beginning this century not even part of Division 1.

Without further ado, let’s start running through the names, focusing on what they’ve done in the Summit League this century.
