Central Florida Knights

After a 16-win season, UCF looks for a run towards the top-4 of the AAC in 2021, buoyed by the return of the team’s top two producers in Darin Smith Jr. and Collin Smith. The team also adds Louisville grad transfer Darius Perry and has VCU sit-out transfer forward Sean Mobley to provide depth as well.

Walker would be a nice frontcourt partner with Smith for a year before becoming a star in his own right in the future. The Knights aren’t a major program compared to the other power conference teams but besides being close to home, offers plenty of playing time and a huge role for the transfer.

South Florida Bulls

A team that could be surprisingly good next season is South Florida, who returns four starters from last year, along with All-Conference forward Alexis Yetna, who missed all of 2019-20 with a serious injury. But even Yetna’s return won’t be enough to improve from their 14-17 overall record but adding another frontcourt weapon in Walker could be the decisive piece to move up the AAC ladder.

The Bulls have added frontcourt pieces this offseason, including Texas Tech transfer Russel Tchewa and Mississippi State transfer Prince Oduro. Neither played much at their previous stops and are likely to sit out barring a waiver. Walker certainly has more potential than either of them and would be a major pickup for head coach Brian Gregory and the program’s effort to finishing over .500 in conference play for the first time.

If teams outside the state of Florida potentially get involved, then expect a ton of programs in the southeast to make a big run at CJ Walker. Even in limited playing time at Oregon, the former five-star forward prospect showed great promise. If given a waiver from the NCAA, this could be a game-changing pickup for any NCAA Basketball team.
