NCAA Basketball: Analyzing 2021 4-Star F Arthur Kaluma’s final 8 schools

Oklahoma Sooners
One of the Jayhawks conference foes, the Oklahoma Sooners, has also cracked the list for Kaluma. Lon Kruger coached his squad to a 3rd place finish in the Big 12 last season, but are losing valued talent this offseason. Without securing much talent in the 2020 class to replace them, the hopes to elevate the program back to similar heights will come from the 2021 class.
The Sooners relied heavily on their frontcourt to carry the team’s production last season and that may be the case again next season. Oklahoma wasn’t strong in many statistical categories of the game, except for defensive rebounds, and could stand to improve in every way possible. Adding a talent like Kaluma would go a long way towards changing the tides in Norman.
He would be given significant freedom to develop as a ball-handler on the perimeter and the focal point of Kruger’s offensive system. His playmaking ability and high motor will help to elevate the production of his teammates on both ends of the floor. Already likely the best defensive prospect on the team, Kaluma would be given be responsible for guarding the opponent’s best or second-best player.
There’s no doubt that he can succeed with the Sooners, but Kaluma’s first priority, once he commits to the program, is to work hard at recruiting other talents to join him in 2021. Oklahoma is still in consideration for several 5-star and 4-star prospects, so accomplishing this is not outside the realm of possibility.
