NCAA Basketball: Analyzing 2021 4-Star F Arthur Kaluma’s final 8 schools

TJ Otzelberger’s squad took some time to round into shape, but they performed well in conference play on their way to a 2nd-place finish. The Rebels relied on a talented backcourt and a thin rotation through the season, but have suffered more depth losses this offseason. The signing of the conference’s top recruiting class in 2020 couldn’t have been more perfectly timed.

The 2020 team will still be anchored by experienced guard play at the top of the roster, allowing for the development of the freshman class in a pressure-free environment. Their growth will come in handy for the addition of Kaluma who will be the highest-ranked player on the roster. As a poor defensive team, his presence on the floor would vastly improve the program’s current situation.

The Rebels were solid on the glass but did not create many turnovers or contest shots well enough to compete with teams early in the year. Depending on who else Otzelberger has at his disposal, Kaluma can guard any position needed to help the team. His length and quickness will especially help to disrupt the comfort of shooters against UNLV.

On the other end of the floor, Kaluma will help to create a little more balance inside the perimeter for the team. His ability to put the ball on the floor and attack downhill will come in handy for a team that was only average at sharing the ball.

The positive news on the recruiting front for UNLV is they remain in contention for top-40 guard Zaon Collins, who would make for a strong and productive duo with Kaluma from the start.
