NCAA Basketball: Ranking the 10 teams in running for 5-star Daimion Collins
Talented NCAA Basketball prospect Daimion Collins has 10 programs vying for his services. Which teams have the best odds to land him?
When it comes to the best frontcourt players in the 2021 NCAA Basketball recruiting class, Daimion Collins ranks right up there at the top. The 6’8, 190-pound forward/center is an outstanding athlete with an ever-growing game that makes all the college coaches very interesting to land him.
Although he doesn’t have the massive size that would make Collins the prototypical center, his long wingspan, natural instincts, and quick movements more than make up for that. He’s an outstanding shot-blocker and individual defender that can guard both frontcourt positions. On offense, he can finish in traffic and can dunk in situations inside that most bigs aren’t capable of.
Listed as a five-star prospect from Atlanta (Texas, not Georgia), Collins has been one of the most sought-after players from the southeast in the 2021 recruiting class. Other frontcourt players ranked higher such as Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren, and Nathan Bittle have already released lists, featuring the usual heavy-hitters.

Now, Collins himself has announced an initial list of 10 NCAA Basketball programs officially in the running. He’s the kind of player with NBA potential but may take 2-3 years to get to that level. His presence will be a defensive boost for any team, along with the public relations bump of landing a five-star talent.
For this piece, I’ll be not only taking a look at Collins’ potential fit with all 10 teams, but I’ll also be ranking them in terms of the best overall situations, including early playing time, NBA Draft preparation, and ability to win as a team.
