Who are the most accomplished head coaches in Sun Belt Basketball this century?

Due mostly to realignment in football, Sun Belt Basketball has seen a fair bit of change in recent years. While it’s never been what one considers a powerful basketball league, there have certainly been some potent teams that have risen up since the turn of the century. Even though programs like Western Kentucky have departed for new leagues, the crop of remaining programs is still in shape for fascinating basketball.

Over the course of time, these Sun Belt teams have been led by a pretty solid group of coaches. Many of these names have used this success to move onto bigger and better programs, though for many these Sun Belt years were the prime of their careers. Few legends of the game may pass through the Sun Belt, though there are some pretty recognizable names these past few years. You won’t find many Hall of Famers playing in the Sun Belt, making the recruiting and coaching accomplishments of these coaches that more impressive.

We’re going to take a closer look at the ten greatest head coaches of the Sun Belt since 2000. Even while the conference has transformed in recent years, we’ve seen a few teams and a few coaches that have really stood out. We’ll consider things like wins and postseason success, while obviously noting the impact each coach can have on a struggling or mediocre program. In the Sun Belt, you won’t have teams winning NCAA Tournament games on a regular basis, making the accomplishments of the top names on that list stand out even more.

Without further ado, let’s get right into the ranking, looking closely at what these coaches have done in the Sun Belt since the turn of the century.
