Illinois Illini

Ayo Dosunmu in all likelihood will be staying in the draft and Kofi Cockburn could very well end up staying in the draft also, either one of them leaving would open up a scholarship for Stanley. Illinois is coming off a 21-win season with solid pieces returning with or without Dosunmu and Cockburn.

Stanley can be that stretch four in the small ball lineups, in the Big 10 he’d probably have a more difficult time playing the role he did at Hampton but he’s skilled enough to make it work. Stanley would make a solid two-way player that can bring down some boards, and his offensive production speaks for itself.

The Illini has a top-20 recruiting class coming in next season with a couple of three-star big men but Stanley would be able to flex between the three and the four spots in those lineups. Underwood would find a way to get Stanley involved even if he were to come off the bench.

Some uncertainty moving forward as NBA draft decisions with Dosunmu and Cockburn loom but the Illini are likely to have a spot open for Stanley and he would be able to make an immediate impact with Underwood.

The Illini weren’t the only Big Ten team to make the cut for Stanley.
