With recruiting for the 2020-21 season complete, head coaches are unable to rest on their laurels or wallow in self-pity. These are 10 NCAA Basketball teams who need a strong 2021 recruiting class.

Needs and wants are two very different things, but at times can get mistaken for one another. There can be no doubt, that out of the 357 Division I NCAA Basketball teams, there are 357 schools that want strong recruiting classes and they want them every year. There are fewer who actually need strong classes and even they have needed to varying degrees. There are some schools that the masses can sympathize with, but other schools only the die-hards feel bad when they come up short.

There are certain criteria that will cause teams to not be included, despite needing a number of good players to come into their program. Teams as; Kentucky Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks, and Duke Blue Devils, these teams will need to make an impact with 2021 recruits if they hope to have a quality team. This need is simply in order to maintain one of the top programs in the NCAA because they consistently get all the top recruits who ultimately are ‘one and done’, thus they get no sympathy. Plus this article is more than just stating the obvious.

On the flip side, it would be too simple to state that Houston Baptist, High Point, and Louisiana -Monroe need a strong class, as there are countless mid-to-low major programs that need but will never get a strong recruitment class. It is impossible to justify one over the others, so intelligence will not be insulted and those programs will not be discussed.

The teams that are mentioned are ones that interest can be invested in, for they have a legitimate reason to need a strong class. Whether it be a number of valuable players leaving, hoping to make a jump in the standings, to save a coach, or to possibly change the landscape of NCAA recruiting altogether. These teams, whether fans wish it for them or not, need a strong 2021 recruiting class.
