NCAA Basketball: A look at teams interested in top-10 F Caleb Houstan
Michigan Wolverines
The Wolverines have an already impressive haul of 2021 commits, including top-100 guard Kobe Bufkin and wing Isaiah Barnes. They also have double-digit scoring guard Chaundee Brown, who likely will have to sit out next season barring a waiver.
But with Isaiah Livers coming back for one more year and 6’8 forward Franz Wagner likely going to be around for one season as well, there will be a clear need for a talented five-star forward in Houstan to come in and make an impact. He’d be the second five-star commit for head coach Juwan Howard (Isaiah Todd), but hopefully, this one would actually stick around for the program.
Michigan State Spartans
The Spartans have been on a roll lately on the recruiting trail, landing five-star shooting guard Max Christie and top-100 guard Pierre Brooks. That, and landing No. 1 class of 2022 recruit Emoni Bates, considered to be the best high school prospect since LeBron James, who may never actually end up playing a minute in college.
If Bates does end up playing at Michigan State and actually reclassifies (current rumor), that would make it hard for Houstan, who plays a similar position to Bates, to end up in East Lansing. The Spartans wouldn’t mind that since that means they’d have a superstar recruit playing for them.
