Villanova Wildcats

Coach Jay Wright has been getting plenty of attention from the top high school players, but between Jahvon Quinerly transferring out and Bryan Antoine not playing much last season, there needs to be evidence that five-star players can succeed at Villanova so they can truly be a major threat for guys such as Houstan.

What does help though is the past breakout season Saddiq Bey just had for the Wildcats. The former four-star wing led the team with 16.1 ppg and is now off to the NBA as a likely first-round pick. The 6’8 forward has a similar skillset to Houstan with less raw talent. Seeing what he did would be the best selling point for the five-star forward to consider.

Virginia Cavaliers

With Marquette transfer Sam Hauser gone after next season, there will be a need for another forward to come in and take over. For a team that always is near the bottom in scoring on offense, adding someone such as Houstan would be huge for them, while not sacrificing their defensive integrity.

The obvious question in this situation will be whether a five-star prospect will want to play in a system that purposes slows it down on offense. But that didn’t seem to be an issue for Deandre Hunter, a leading scorer and college star who not only won a national championship but ended up being a top-5 pick in the NBA Draft. Houstan could potentially follow in his footsteps.

Again, it’s extremely early in the NCAA Basketball process for Caleb Houstan. But right now, Duke looks to be a top contender for his services early on. However, that has been said for other five-star talents, who ultimately turned the Blue Devils down. Could one of the other 15 programs mentioned land his signature? Or is NCAA Basketball even in his future?

Stay tuned to Busting Brackets for any developments in this process.
