Creighton Bluejays

Kunkel’s 39% three-point shooting would fit perfectly with the Bluejays, who as a team shot the exact same percentage. The Belmont guard would be a nice replacement for rising senior Mitchell Ballock, and Marcus Zegarowski, a star point guard who could potentially go pro after next season.

The problem in this situation is that Creighton already has a sit-out transfer in the wings in Alex O’Connell from Duke. A sharpshooter himself, he’d likely play over Kunkel and if four-star class of 2021 PG Ryan Nembhard can solidify himself as an instant impact player, minutes for the Bruin shooter may not be as easy to come by.

Dayton Flyers

While the Flyers will have to try and replace the production from reigning National Player of the Year Obi Toppin. The backcourt will be an even bigger issue in the year after. All three of the starting backcourt players (Ibi Watson, Jalen Crutcher, and Rodney Chatman) are rising seniors.

Dayton did land former top-50 guard Elijah Weaver from USC as a sit-out transfer and he and Kunkel would be one of the best mid-major backcourts in 2021-22. And while the Atlantic 10 is a step below the power conferences, it’s a step above the Ohio Valley Conference without question and it wouldn’t be too big of a leap for the Belmont transfer in terms of competition.
