Duke Basketball: 10 biggest storylines heading into 2020-21 season
The high-profile Duke Basketball program has plenty going on this offseason both on and off the court. Here are 10 storylines to keep an eye on for the team.
This past season featured some ups and downs for Duke Basketball overall. The team finished 25-6 (15-5) overall, including a major win over Kansas in the Champions Classic to start the campaign out. If that was the high, losing to Stephen F. Austin at home in overtime certainly was the low.
Overall, the season has to be viewed as somewhat incomplete since it ended early but the back-to-back road losses to Wake Forest and Virginia hurt the Blue Devils chase to finally win the ACC regular-season title, with the Florida State Seminoles taking over to win it. But seeing the mighty struggles of rival UNC had to have been a nice positive for fans to observe as well.
It’s now time to turn the page towards the 2020-21 season. Yet there are still plenty of questions that need to be answered. The top three scorers (Vernon Carey, Tre Jones, and Cassius Stanley) have gone pro, while other rotation players have either transferred or graduated. The good news is that another loaded recruiting class is coming in, featuring multiple five-star prospects.
But how will the roster look like for next year? And who are the top class of 2021 recruits that the Blue Devils should prioritize? With this program looking to be in yearly contention for a national title, the attention has to be there both on the court and on the recruiting trail. There are plenty of storylines for Duke fans to pay attention to. Here are 10 specific topics to discuss.
