10. Michael Devoe – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

2019-20 stats: 16.0 ppg and 3.4 apg

The former top-50 recruit for the Yellow Jackets is coming back for another season after leading them in scoring. He started out last season as hot as possible, scoring 20+ points in five of the first six games, including a career-high 34 points against Georgia. Devoe also can shoot it with the best of them, making 48% of his field-goal attempts and 43% from three-point range.

Although his stats are already at “star level”, Devoe has a great chance to become nationally recognized if he can lead Georgia Tech to an NCAA Tournament appearance for the first time since 2011. The roster is filled with upperclassmen, making this a must-win campaign for the team. If the 6’5 guard can do that, Devoe should get some potential votes for ACC Player of the Year.

9. RJ Nembhard – TCU Horned Frogs

2019-20 stats: 12.1 ppg and 3.5 apg

It was tough to pick between Nembhard and big man Kevin Samuel for breakout candidate but the guard gets the nod simply for how much available production there is now that All-Big 12 star Desmond Bane has graduated, along with both Jaire Grayer and Edric Dennis leaving as well.

Nembhard will likely take over as the new starting point guard but he also can be a prolific scorer, including a career-high 31 points against Iowa State. He can fill up the stat sheet on the boards as well, making him a triple-double threat in 2020-21. Don’t be surprised if he winds up with similar numbers as Bane previously did.
