Mark Turgeon and company picked up the 6-foot-10 forward who has international basketball experience at a young age.

Maryland basketball got a much-needed addition to their frontcourt Monday when they signed Arnaud Revaz from Switzerland. According to the Washington Post’s Emily Giambalvo, Revaz played internationally for the France club JL Bourg during the shortened 2019-20 season where he averaged 6.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He averaged 9.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 2018 as a member of the Switzerland U-18 team in the European Championships. He will have four years of eligibility beginning this season.

Arnaud Revaz provides Maryland basketball with another big body in the post to pair with sophomore

Chol Marial

who is showing

signs of improvement

in the offseason. Revaz can shoot the perimeter shot and he moves well without the basketball which allows teammates to find him in open spots on the court for scores. He also shows an excellent ability to pass the ball out of the post which is an underrated skill for a big man.

Where Revaz plays on the court could depend on

Jairus Hamilton’s

eligibility waiver decision. If Hamilton gets the waiver to play this season, he will be at the power forward spot and Revaz could be a reserve to Marial at the center position. Given the way

Donta Scott

played last season at the power forward spot, he could be the likely starter next season. A frontcourt pairing of Marial and Revaz would give the

Terps

the optimal size advantage at 7-foot-2 and 6-foot-10, respectively.

Arnaud Revaz could also benefit the Terps because he could give his teammates tips and strategies he learned from playing internationally. Maryland basketball has four available frontcourt players in Revaz, Marial, Scott, and Galin Smith.

The best-case scenario is Hamilton gets the waiver and the Terps would then have a lot more flexibility in terms of what they could do on the floor with their bigs.
