Point Guard

Starter: Jahvon Quinerly

I believe Jahvon Quinerly will wind up starting at the one for Alabama. After a season where he had to sit out due to the NCAA’s eligibility rules and the fact that he transferred from Villanova, Quinerly is read as he will ever be to take over and make an impact in Tuscaloosa.

With the Wildcats, Quinerly failed to get enough minutes to make a significant impact, but out of high school, he was a highly coveted recruit. Quinerly was a five-star recruit, ranked 28th in 247 Sports’ rankings, and was also a McDonald’s All-American.

At the one, Alabama doesn’t have many players, but you should expect to see Jaden Shackelford get time at the point guard as well. However, I expect to see Shackelford starting alongside Quinerly at the two.

Shooting Guard

Starter: Jaden Shackelford

Jaden Shackelford will be back for his second year with the Crimson Tide, and he hopes to make an even bigger impact in 2020-21 than he did in 2019-20. Shackelford had a great freshman season as he was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

In year one Shackelford averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game, while shooting 41.3% from the field, 35.7% beyond the arc, and 76.8% from the free-throw line. The question is; can he keep it up, or maybe even improve in year two?

Behind Shackelford, I would expect to see Josh Primo get significant time off the bench. Primo is a 6’6″, 180lb four-star recruit out of Toronto, who will look to help Alabama make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018.

In addition to Shackelford and Primo, there is also Keon Ellis who could potentially get a couple of minutes per game. Ellis is a 6’6″, 165lb three-star recruit out of Fort Meyers, Florida.
