James Graham III committed to Maryland basketball Wednesday afternoon.

James Graham III is coming to College Park. Terps fans rejoice. He announced his commitment via Twitter and chose Maryland Basketball over his home state school Wisconsin, Memphis, and Auburn. The four-star small forward from Milwaukee’s Nicolet High School is the ninth-best small forward and the second-best player in that state according to 247Sports.

He joins Ike Cornish and Julian Reese as the third commit in the 2021 class for Maryland basketball. The Terps now have the eighth-best recruiting class nationally and the third-best class in the Big Ten.

What makes James Graham III a good fit for Maryland basketball?

Before I get into that, it’s worth noting that eight 247Sports recruiting analysts had him picking the Terps. The 6-foot-8, 205-pounder can take the ball to the basket and score. He shoots efficiently from behind the three-point line and let’s not discount his ability to block shots and be make things difficult for an opposing offense.

According to 247Sports Brian Snow, Graham III was offered by Maryland before he became the blue-chip recruit that he is. Loyalty is key. Graham went where he was celebrated but more importantly, he made the best choice for him. He will provide the Terps with the versatility to play the wing or power forward spot.

Mark Turgeon will definitely be excited because he has one more year left with Darryl Morsell who has been the glue guy for the Terps over the last four seasons. The Terps roster will get two for the price of one. This is a perfect fit for James Graham III and Maryland basketball.
