Top-70 NCAA Basketball prospect D’Marco Dunn has announced seven main contenders for his services. Which ones stand out as the best potential fit?

One of the best east coast perimeter prospects in the 2021 NCAA Basketball recruiting class is D’Marco Dunn, ranked as a consensus top-100 overall player, and top-70 according to 247sportsComposite. Originally from Tuscon, Arizona, the 6’4 shooting guard has since become a star in the state of North Carolina.

Last season, Dunn averaged over 20 ppg and 7.0 rpg for Westover High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He’s considered to be one of, if not the best overall prospect from the state in the 2021 class and has risen into a player on the national radar.

Dunn is an outstanding pure shooter, who can drain it from deep and even go inside to get his offense. At 6’4, he has the size to defend at a high level and should be a double-digit scorer at the collegiate level.

As the latest player to see his recruitment take center stage, Dunn has narrow his list of potential options down to seven programs;

It’s a diverse group of teams, most of whom could really use Dunn’s services a year from now. With visits still off-limits, familiarity with the coaching staff and program overall could be key in his decision. All of these teams have something to offer Dunn but who makes the most sense? Here’s a close look at his potential fit with each contender.

Arizona Wildcats

With Seattle U grad transfer shooting guard Terrell Brown only around for a year, the Wildcats will be in need of finding a true off-guard in the 2021 class for depth purposes. The backcourt has plenty of questions longterm, including the status of injured starting guard Brandon Williams and how good some of the international freshmen are, including Kerr Kriisa, Tautvilas Tubelis, and Bennedict Mathurin.

While being the “original” hometown team on this list, Arizona already has plenty of perimeter depth, including top-100 incoming freshman off-guard Dalen Terry and current class of 2021 combo guard commit KJ Simpson. If head coach Sean Miller opts to use two ball-handlers on the court then Dunn may find a hard time with getting minutes for the first couple of seasons.
