Arizona – Can Wildcats avoid growing pains with so many new faces?

Arizona was one of those teams that were struck hard by NBA defections, albeit expected ones when Nico Mannion, Josh Green, and Zeke Nnaji all left after one season in Tucson. Combine that with another transfer and five other seniors on the roster and head coach Sean Miller has some holes to fill on the roster.

To that end, Miller brings in the No. 5 ranked recruiting class in the country, along with Terrell Brown, Jr. who is eligible immediately after transferring from Seattle where he led the team in scoring (20.7) and assists (4.9) last season. There are two other players, guard Brandon Williams who missed the entire year with a knee injury and forward Jordan Brown who sat out last year leaving Nevada. That’s a total of 10 new faces that did not suit up for the team last year.

Sometimes having so many new faces can work out for a team, but other times it can look like a bunch of guys playing together for the first time. It’s an overall recruiting class of seven players, led by four four-star players, including forwards Dalen Terry and Azuolas Tubelis. If Miller can get all these new faces to compete as a cohesive unit, then the Wildcats should be one of the top teams in the Pac 12.
