Shooting Guards

Starter: DJ Steward (28 Minutes Per Game)

DJ Steward is Duke’s only shooting guard on the roster for the 2020-21 season, which undoubtedly means he will get around 30 minutes per game. Steward is a five-star recruit ranked 25th in the Class of 2020 out of Whitney Young High School in Chicago.

Standing at 6’3″, 165lb, Steward is a stud who can get to the rim with ease, he is quick and has impressive handles for his age. Steward is already a projected lottery pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, and we haven’t even seen him compete on the collegiate level yet.

I would fully expect Steward to be the starter at shooting guard for the Blue Devils throughout the 2020-21 season, and due to the fact he is the only shooting guard on the roster, you should expect to see him play around 30 minutes per game, if not more.

Bench Minutes: Jordan Goldwire (Four Minutes) and Jeremy Roach (Eight Minutes)

As I mentioned earlier, I would fully expect Goldwire to start at point guard with Roach coming off the bench, but seeing there’s only one shooting guard on the roster, you should also expect to see them get time at the two.

Goldwire is a solid defender and if Duke wants Roach in for his offense while also taking advantage of Goldwire’s defense and giving Steward some rest, we could see them both on the court at the same time.
