Small Forward

Starter: Wendell Moore (22 Minutes Per Game)

Personally, I see Wendell Moore being the starter at small forward, at least to begin the 2020-21 season. Moore will be a sophomore who decided to remain at Duke for his second season after averaging 7.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 0.9 steals per game.

Averaging 24.0 points per game while starting only 11 of the 25 games he appeared in, Moore made a huge impact for the Blue Devils off the bench. In 2020-21, I would expect Moore to make an even bigger impact for Duke as I see him starting.

Moore showed up in several large moments for Duke last season, the biggest of which obviously being his buzzer-beater to down North Carolina in overtime. Why does this matter? It matters because it shows that Moore is ready to be the everyday starter for the Blue Devils.

As the 22nd overall recruit in the Class of 2019, Moore is clearly a talented player and in his sophomore season, you should expect him to make a bigger impact despite playing similar minutes compared to his freshman season.

Bench: Jalen Johnson (16 Minutes Per Game) and Joey Baker (Two Minutes Per Game)

Jalen Johnson is a player who you should expect to see start multiple times throughout the season, but I don’t believe he will be the game one starter. Johnson is a very talented player and is the 13th ranked recruit in the nation according to ESPN.

Standing at 6’8″, 210 lbs, Johnson is a talented, speedy passer and ballhandler, but his shooting is where he can improve the most. I believe it will be his shooting that ultimately leads to Wendell Moore getting more starts in the end.

Joey Baker is a power forward, but I would expect him to play only a couple minutes per game at the three due to the excessive amount of power forwards Duke has.
