Purdue Basketball underwent some roster changes this offseason. How do the Boilermakers look as the 2020-21 season approaches?

The 2019-20 season was one to forget for fans of Purdue Basketball. After a magical run in the 2018-19 season, that led all the way to the Elite Eight thanks to Carsen Edwards; Purdue regressed in a gauntlet of a Big Ten schedule. However, the team still did go 9-11 in conference play, despite the conference widely being lauded as the best conference in college basketball.

There is reason for optimism for Purdue fans next year. Purdue still has Matt Painter, who has coached them since 2006 and has a winning percentage of 66.9%. Painter has only missed consecutive NCAA tournaments once in his career at Purdue (2013 and 2014). And even then, it was only two years where Purdue was absent.

Furthermore, they’re two top scorers are expected to return, and they have the 34th best-recruiting class in the nation for next season according to 247 Sports. Furthermore, this team will still be young.

The team won’t have any seniors next season, so Purdue fans can expect two consecutive seasons of dominance with the 2021-22 season being the only where they finally make the Final Four again.

In this slideshow, we are going to look at Purdue’s depth in the three main areas: guards, forwards, and center. And in the final slide, I’ll give my expectations on what I believe Purdue can do this season. And given the Boilermakers‘ recent reign of dominance, I have reasons to be optimistic in my prediction.

Without waiting any longer, let’s take a look at Purdue’s depth chart for the 2020-21 season.
