Center

Starter: Nathan Mensah

Expected to be back healthy after his respiratory issues last season, Mensah and his health will be key to retaining the regular-season Mountain West title and eventual tournament success for the Aztecs.

A starter in all 13 of his appearances last season, the 6’10 center will provide key size to the smaller Aztec lineup and will be paramount in their ability to control the glass as well as to key in defensively next season. Overall, he’s a breakout candidate to watch if he can return to full health in 2020-21 and could help propel the Aztecs to a few NCAA tournament wins in a best-case scenario.

Backup: Joshua Tomaic

A graduate transfer from Maryland who grew up in the Canary Islands, Tomaic will provide the Aztecs some much-needed size and depth at the forward position. Playing sparingly at the collegiate level thus far, the 6’9 forward started just a pair of games in his three seasons in College Park and has never averaged over 3 points a game.

Despite this, expect the big man to get minutes especially given the general lack of size across the board for the Aztecs as Tomaic and Mensah are the only players above 6’7 on their roster.
