NCAA Basketball: Texas Tech, Virginia among top 11 for 4-star Deebo Coleman
Montana State Bobcats
A standout on the list, the Big Sky program may be No. 11 for Coleman, but bigger surprises on the recruiting trail have occurred. But it’ll be a major task for head coach Danny Sprinkle to convince Coleman to come up to Montana and play in a one-bid league.
It’s also the same league that NBA superstar guard Damien Lillard came from (Weber State). Rather than fight for playing time at a smaller school and risk being over-recruited, Coleman could come in and dominate the Big Sky, putting up huge numbers and win Conference Player of the Year, while still getting attention from the pro scouts.
Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss has been impressive on the recruiting trail this Summer, landing top-40 point guard Daeshun Ruffin in the 2021 class, as well as top-100 shooting guard James White and 6’5 shooter Grant Slatten too. Add top-40 off-guard freshman Matthew Murrell and you have a lot of young guards committed that Coleman will have to deal with.
But Coleman’s ability to play off the ball could help make everyone happy. The Rebels under head coach Kermit Davis has proven that he can have multiple guards excel on offense. The team may prefer to add another big man in the class but if they can land another versatile guard, there’s no reason not to.
