13. team. 527. . . . Bulldogs

2019-20 SEC Record: 5-13

Despite losing Anthony Edwards (Georgia’s leading scorer), and Rayshaun Hammonds (Georgia’s second-leading scorer) to the NBA Draft, the Bulldogs still have a few nice pieces going into the 2020-21 season.

They managed to add three graduate transfers (Justin Kier- George Mason, Andrew Garcia- Stony Brook, and PJ Horne- Virginia Tech) to their roster in the off-season, a 4-star freshman in KD Johnson, and get to keep Sahvir Wheeler and Toumani Camara around for another season.

However, what I don’t like about Georgia, is their refusal to hunker down on the defensive end, and avoid constantly trying to win shootouts. They ranked 312th in the country, and 13th in the SEC in points per game allowed (75.6) according to NCAA.com.

I wouldn’t be bringing this up if Georgia had managed to win more conference games, but because they dropped so many winnable games due to their reliance on their offensive firepower and athleticism (instead of their defense), it is an issue that needs to be discussed.

Take Hammonds out of the equation for a second, and take a moment to ponder this question, if Georgia was unable to overcome their defensive woes and secure more victories with a top 3 2020 NBA draft pick on their team (Anthony Edwards), why I should I expect them to suddenly figure it out this season?
