The Northeast Conference is wide-open this season, with Long Island among the contenders. The Sharks hope forward Tyrn Flowers can lead the way towards a title.

The Northeast Conference saw one of their charter members leave the league for another mid-major league. The regular-season title was won by a team that was ineligible for the conference tournament and the NCAA Tournament because they are still in their transitional phase to division 1. Robert Morris is the team that is off to the Horizon League and the Merrimack College Warriors were a team that surprised the whole conference and won the regular season.

The Northeast Conference is one of those conferences where the mantra should be to expect the unexpected. Seemingly every year this conference has a few surprises in store for its avid fans. It is not often that the preseason favorite ends up with the conference’s NCAA tournament bid. This year will likely be more of the same but without Robert Morris and with Merrimack still being ineligible the league is going to be wide open.

The Long Island University Sharks are going to have an excellent case to be considered near the top of this conference and have a good chance as any team in the league to win the conference’s bid to the NCAA tournament.

The Sharks have a good portion of their roster returning next season and are led by senior big man Tyrn Flowers. Head Coach Derek Kellogg has taken his team to the NCAA tournament once in his short three-year stint (2018). This team has a chance led by Flowers to make a return trip to the NCAA tournament.
