Los Angeles Clippers – Find some size late in the draft

With the Knicks having their 1st round pick from the Marcus Morris trade, the Clippers have just No. 54 to work with. After the disastrous 3-1 collapse to the Nuggets, the franchise has plans to add both bigs and a scoring playmaker to the roster. A trade is the best way to deal with the ladder, while there should be plenty of frontcourt options late in the draft.

Some likely available targets include Tyrique Jones (Xavier), Steven Enoch (Louisville), and Rayshaun Hammonds (Georgia), all who were good college big men whose lack of athleticism is the reasons why they aren’t first-round picks. The Clippers don’t need a starter but any depth that can provide good minutes off the bench is all they can ask for.

Los Angeles Lakers – Land a great shooting guard

Led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers are back in the finals. As good as James is and assuming Davis signs a long-term deal, this franchise will remain in title contention for a while. But if they can succeed with their No. 29 or 30 pick, that can help extend their window. It’s hard to tell what their biggest need is with so many players’ contracts set to expire.

However, a clear weakness on this roster is the lack of three-point shooting. The best players at it are Danny Green and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, players who at times have mightily struggled. Some intriguing scoring options at the shooting guard position include JUCO guard Jay Scrubb, Syracuse’s Elijah Hughes, and even Kira Lewis Jr. from Alabama, a point guard that can score and shoot at a high level.
