Alabama Basketball and Nate Oats have done it again, this time with the commitment of Class of 2021 PG, JD Davison.

Since becoming the Alabama Basketball head coach, Nate Oats has taken the Alabama basketball program and completely flipped it on its head. Although Alabama likely would’ve missed the 2020 NCAA Tournament, Oats had a solid first season in Tuscaloosa with his biggest win coming over Auburn in January, who was undefeated and ranked fourth in the nation at the time.

Now, Oats is at it again, but this time with the commitment of JD Davison, who is the ninth-ranked player in the Class of 2021, and the top-ranked point guard according to 247 Sports. Davison has been compared to Russell Westbrook and Ja Morant ALREADY, and he has yet to step foot on a college basketball court.

Davison is a 6’3” point guard who can get to the rim with ease with a decent jump shot, but a jump shot that certainly has room for improvement. Davison is also a very impressive passer and is reliable on the defensive end.

There’s no denying that the addition of Davison is HUGE for Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide, and it speaks to the impact Oats has had on the Alabama basketball program in only two years there.

Oats has turned Alabama into a legitimate SEC contender year in and year out, and I wouldn’t expect that to change anytime soon.

With the addition of Davison, Alabama now has the 27th ranked recruiting class in the nation, and they only have two commits. Davison joins four-star, Jusaun Holt as the only other commit for the Class of 2021, who committed just last week.

However, it’s very very early and Alabama has the potential to add several talented players to their roster that already has the chance to make some noise in the SEC in 2020-21, let alone 2021-22.

Alabama is also still in the running for several top recruits from the Class of 2021 including five stars Moussa Diabate, and Charles Bediako, and four-stars Alex Fudge,  and Wesley Cardet, among others.

Don’t sleep on the Alabama Crimson Tide, they’re legit and they’re going to be legit as long as Nate Oats is still in Tuscaloosa.
