Five-star NCAA Basketball prospect Caleb Houstan is down to just for options. Which of them is the best potential fit for the program?

When it comes to the 2021 NCAA Basketball recruiting class, there has been a ton of progress when it comes to the power forward prospects at the top. Mike Foster has a list of four programs and four pro options, while other five-star prospects such as Jabari Smith and Daimion Collins are closer to making decisions. Another is Caleb Houstan, who also is making news this week.

A couple of months ago, the five-star Canadian forward who plays his high school basketball at Montverde decided to reclassify from the 2022 class to 2021, set to play the following season. Since then, a number of programs have been heavily recruiting Houstan, with some reportedly stepping up as lead contenders.

Houstan has incredibly high potential, especially on offense. The 6’8, 210-pound athlete is a natural power forward that can operate on the perimeter, giving him the flexibility to play at small forward as well. He can score at all three levels on offense and can be an elite shooter that can spread the court. Houstan will be a starter in any frontcourt and should be a “one and done” NBA Draft prospect.

Since there wasn’t an original cut list, it’s good to see which teams are truly in the running for Houstan. Of those who didn’t make it, Gonzaga, Oregon, and North Carolina are the most notable. However, those three programs are already stacked in the frontcourt, so it makes sense now.

But now we’re down to four, with each of them having legit selling points for the five-star power forward prospect. Here’s a closer look at his potential fit with each of them.
